Default Scat Cat
Has anyone tried this? I swear, my two are driving me up the bloody wall, getting on the counter constantly, licking in the sink, stealing food, etc.... They seriously stole my toast out of the toaster this morning. That was the last straw, as it's getting to the point where it is becoming dangerous to them, so I moved them permanently into the cat room, which sucks as I want them in the main part of the house with everyone else! I caught Voodoo stepping on to the stove, when a burner was on. We've been using a squirt bottle, but it's just become a sport to them, to see what they can get away with before they get caught. The last thing I want is having to rush them to the vet for severe burns. I'm seriously thinking of resorting to this. I'm at a loss...

I haven't used Scat Cat, but I have had experience with cats playing the squirt bottle game. The way that I deal with that is to add just enough vinegar so that you can smell it in the water. The vinegar is harmless to the cat, but they don't usually like it on their fur.

Another solution is to use an air can instead of water. My sister has had a lot of success with this method. She gets air cans like you would use to clean electronics with. When she sees her cats doing something naughty she releases a blast from the can. It startles the cat away from what it is doing. When that happens every time, the cat usually decides what it is doing simply isn't worth it.

Wow Zoe...your cats are ballsy !!

While Kato will attempt those things if he doesn't see us in the room....he doesn't while we're in the room !!

He fears the wrath of Debbie....

Funny thing is ....if I hear him getting down from a counter from another room...all I have to say is "What's Kato doing ?" and Sassy (JRT) will run into the kitchen and chase him out.

I've also heard they don't like double-sided tape .........

Ya.. they mentioned this at the pet store, but the only tricky thing is that we have the counters devided into ''glutened'' and ''glunten free'' so Raven doesn't get contaminated with gluten so I'm worried about having something sticky on the counter and it getting all gluteny. Nothin' can be simple in this house, can it?

I'll try adding some vinegar to the bottle but I don't know... I'm likin' the idea of sending the dogs after them but that has the potential to turn on me! lol

Diva's new recent one.... stealing some of the BOILING turkey carcass out of the pot when I was making soup. She got a nice little scald on her chest and no doubt in her mouth. It burnt me when I picked it up of the floor!

I have given up also. The other day, I caught Max dragging the rat thawing out for Medusa across the kitchen floor.
